If there one thing IceStone knows, it’s countertops. Since 2003 we have been the leading manufacturer and distributer of countertop materials across the nation. But, never falling short of truly expressive design, homeowners, designers and artists across the globe have taken IceStone materials to places beyond even our imaginations. From jewelry to full fledge structures, we are going to pay homage to some of our favorite designs that go beyond the countertop.
PaperStone
PaperStone has been used for everything from bathroom partitions to restaurants tables. What make’s this Cabernet firepit our top pick is because it goes to show how durable PaperStone really is. While still made of recycled papers, PaperStone does not have an issue holding up to even the brightest campfire. Imagine sitting out on your patio, roasting a few marshmallows with this beautifully designed work of art. I think that’s something we can all get behind.
Durat
It was hard for us to find just one way Durat goes above and beyond the countertop. One of the most customizable materials in the design world, Durat only limitations are the imagination. So, we decided to chose the biggest design, and the smallest.
“Kuukkeli” or, in English “The Siberian Jay” was crafted by artist Villu Jaanisoo using scrap pieces of Durat to create a masterpiece. Made of recycled material, Jaanisoo’s work truly is not only an amazingly vibrant sculpture, but it is environmentally friendly. The bird premiered at The Helsinki Art Museum in Finland. Not quite as big as The Siberian Jay, Durat has been used by countless jewelry creators to produce necklaces, bracelets, rings and so much more. We are a huge fan of this Durat necklace, which features Durat 012 and 090 for the chain and an array of pendants made of recycled skateboards. This is the kind of jewelry that gets heads turning.
IceStone
Last, but certainly not least, we have seen it all for IceStone. Sculptures, stepping stones, fireplaces, you name it. But, after a long and hard look at all of the designs we have seen, we had to go with the one use that today still remains in our office.
Back in 2010, we collaborated with our Brooklyn Neighbors Uhuru Furniture to produce a limited set of IceStone tables and coffeestands. What started as a simple idea because a project which truly shows that it does not need to be complex to be considered amazing design.
